sugar high!!!

so today we made these
but let me start at the beginning...

it has been a very hot summer here and therefore we have spent a lot of time inside.  we do have a pool in our neighborhood but taking 3 little ones there by myself is not very easy (i've only attempted it once).  so while we have done some swimming with friends we've spent a lot of time playing in the toy aisle at target and going to storytime at the library.  the other week m and i went shopping and she saw some sugar cookie mix.  "mommy can we please buy this and make them to eat".  so we bought the mix.  i thought today was as good a day as any to make them (considering it is going to be 95!).  so when p went down for her morning nap out came the cookie mix, one egg, and one stick of butter and thus the sugary mess began.
here is m getting ready to ice her cookies
i gave each kid a bowl of icing and 2 cookies to ice.  which ended up being a good idea because i believe more of the icing went into their mouths than onto the cookies (but isn't that the point?).  next we let the sprinkles fly and fly they did.  i think i'll be sweeping up sprinkles for a week.  i let them each eat one of their creations and they are saving the other one for dessert tonight.
the finished products
all in all we had a very fun morning (yes, cookies before lunch...sometimes you got to live a little).  i think this picture of j sums it up...
you can never have too much icing and sprinkles!
